LinkLetter: Why I Talk To Clean Enthusiasts

Connecting Clean Language advocates and curious practitioners

Why might you want to spend time talking to someone else who knows Clean Language, in preference to any of the other things you might do on, say, a November Saturday?

I have amazing privilege: I get to talk to loads of Clean-trained people in an average week. I’ve done that for years, and I keep on doing it. Why?

It’s not just that strengthening the network is a good thing for our shared learning, as we find out about who’s up to what with #CleanInTheWild. Nor just that connecting with colleagues in similar or adjacent fields leads to new paid projects and/or greater social impact.

I think it’s that when Clean brings you together, every conversation has a powerful set of starting assumptions: including the idea that each of you is unique, and that both of you are curious about each other’s uniqueness.

I think that’s why our big online event, Metaphorum, is such a joy. And it’s why you should be there.

🤖 Clean Language AI Wins Tech Investment

One day, could we get a similar kind of joy from a conversation with a machine?

WhisperQuake, the US-based start-up where I’m a co-founder, this week announced the tech investment partnership to create Daisy, the world’s first reflective AI platform grounded in Clean Language.

“AuraWorx’s technology investment as a founding strategic partner in WhisperQuake’s pre-seed phase positions the company for grant funding and additional partnerships ahead of a potential capital raise,” says the press release.

I’m excited. It’s happening!

💬 Lived Experience: Us And Them

We are all ‘people with lived experience’. It means ‘all of us’, and was devised to avoid defining people as "clients’, ‘patients’ or ‘service users’. But the phrase ‘people with lived experience’ is evolving into a label to mean ‘them’, says Bryony Shannon.

Ben Allen has been singing the praises of NHS Horizons, who staged a collaborative design event for the UK’s National Neighbourhood Health Implementation Plan. Great to share good news!

🙈 Don't Share. The AIs Are Listening

My main Substack post struck a bit of a chord. I talk about how Clean Language offers an escape from the Advice Trap. As I was saying in a training offer to UK hospices, it benefits patients, families, staff and volunteers, bringing:

  • Steadier presence in emotionally charged conversations

  • Questions that reduce pressure and increase clarity

  • Support for clearer decisions — without over-helping

  • Stronger follow-through, less emotional strain

  • More focus on, and energy for, what matters most.

And, to share Clean Language, I trigger the Advice Trap. Every time!

🦁 #CleanInTheWild: Reena’s Success

“We left feeling more confident and equipped to support our students in a way that truly honours their individuality and strengths.”

This was the feedback from a team of TAs and their SENCo after Reena Anand delivered a workshop on Neurodiversity Coaching at their school last month.
